North Bay Nugget: Outlook 2010 Article – Apology from Municipality

Posted by Anna Gibson-Olajos

Posted on 13:37, Monday, July 19

We want to apologize for any inconvenience to the accommodations and service industry in the Municipality with regards to the article in the North Bay Nugget “Powassan looking to attract both industry and residents” (Saturday July 17, 2010).  The comments about the lack of accommodations were intended to be specifically about the highway corridor at the north end of the Municipality.  It should have read that there are not sufficient accommodations for the significant number of people who attend the Knowleton Ridge horse shows in town. Please note there are the following accommodations in our Municipality:

-          Westfalenhaus, Robinson House, and The Sparrow’s Nest ( Bed &Breakfast’s in Powassan)

-          The Princess a Motel and TJ’s Motel (Trout Creek)

The comments about the gas station were also in reference to the hwy corridor and we recognize the importance of our gas station on Main Street in Powassan.

Testimonials

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for being so helpful in my recent meeting with the Economic Development Officer, Chief Building Official, Public Works Supervisor and Deputy Clerk. I had many questions regarding rezoning and development. It was a pleasure to have them answered in a co-operative, responsible, knowledgeable manner. Council and staff should be congratulated for their efforts in this matter. Lonny Rose, April 20, 2010.
