Landfill Sites and Garbage Pick-Up

The municipality provides curbside garbage collection to its homes. Please have your bags at the end of your driveway by 8:00 am on your pick up day to avoid any “leftovers”.

Council passed By-law 2008-31 which restricts the garbage bag collection as follows:

2 bags for a residential dwelling
6 bags for a commercial dwelling

Weight restriction for each bag is 40 lbs. The Municipality is encouraging more recycling which will not only prolong the life of the Landfill Site it is better for the environment. These new policies will be enforced starting in 2009.

The Municipality does provide additional service for weekly garbage pick ups for institutions and businesses who require more frequent pick ups. Each pick up is charged on a monthly basis. Should you require more information on this service please call the Municipal Office.

The landfill Site is located at 40 Proudfoot Road, off Hwy 11 between Powassan and Trout Creek.

The hours are;
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturdays 8:00 am to 12:00 (noon)

Testimonials

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for being so helpful in my recent meeting with the Economic Development Officer, Chief Building Official, Public Works Supervisor and Deputy Clerk. I had many questions regarding rezoning and development. It was a pleasure to have them answered in a co-operative, responsible, knowledgeable manner. Council and staff should be congratulated for their efforts in this matter. Lonny Rose, April 20, 2010.
