2012 Recycling Schedule

Powassan's recycling program started January 1, 2006. Pick ups are scheduled bi-weekly as listed in the schedule linked above. Last minute changes to the schedule due to weather or vehicle malfunction will be listed on the main page of the municipal website, the community channel and the municipal twitter feed.

When the program started, each home was given a blue and green box; these boxes are to remain at the residence despite changes in ownership or tennancy. If you are a new resident and the appropriate boxes have not been left for you the municipal office will supply one blue box only. All additional boxes must be purchased; this includes replacement boxes for damaged or stolen bins as well. Boxes can be purchased locally at Valu-Mart and Home Hardware, or recyclables may be placed in cardboard boxes and clear recycling bags.

Green Box - Household paper, Boxes, Paper bags, Glass Bottles and Jars.

Please rinse out bottles and jars. For boxes and paper bags please flatten and bundle together with twine or string. Please no wax paper or plastic lined boxes. Please Bundle paper and place beside green box.

Blue Box - Drink cartons and Tetra paks, Plastic bags, Metal cans and Foil and Plastic containers #1- #7.

Please rinse out containers, metal jars, plastic bags and tetra paks. Please flatten and leave items loose in blue box.
