Q. How have the requirements for a complete application changed?
A. The Building Code has been amended to clarify and enhance the requirements and circumstances for building permit applications that are subject to the mandatory timeframes for review of the application set out in the Building Code (i.e., are “complete”). These amendments implement changes to the Building Code Act, 1992 made by the Good Government Act, 2009.
The building official can refuse to review applications within the timeframes if these requirements are not met. However, in the case of non-compliance with certain requirements (specifically the requirement that the application be accompanied by the required plans, specifications, information or documents or that the proposed construction will contravene any applicable law), the chief building official would have to notify the applicant of this determination within two days. If such notification is not provided, then the application would be subject to full review within the timeframe set out in the Building Code.

All construction projects within municipality require permits. Those that are exempt are under the discretion of the Chief Building Official.

To obtain building permits, demolition permits or to discuss future projects, the Chief Building Official, Rocky Edmonds, can be easily reached through the Municipal Office at 724-2813 Monday - Thursday.

You may come in to the Municipal Office to pick up a Building Permit Application at any time, complete the necessary forms and then return to the Municipal Office with the appropriate documentation.
