Eastholme started to purchase property in the early 1900’s while the logging industry thrived. Today, they own over 60 acres which are mostly used for recreational purposes.
4.9 acre was purchased in 1998 by the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority in conjunction with Arthur and Nancy Thompson and the Town of Powassan. An adjoining trail system, The Pines, offers visitors a variety of recreation including hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and sightseeing, as well as spectacular views from the top of Powassan Mountain.
It is with the kind permission of Eastholme, under a lease agreement with the Municipality of Powassan that the public are allowed to use this land solely for recreational purposes which includes hiking, biking, skiing and snowmobiling trails.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for being so helpful in my recent meeting with the Economic Development Officer, Chief Building Official, Public Works Supervisor and Deputy Clerk. I had many questions regarding rezoning and development. It was a pleasure to have them answered in a co-operative, responsible, knowledgeable manner. Council and staff should be congratulated for their efforts in this matter. Lonny Rose, April 20, 2010.
