The Municipality of Powassan is committed to ensuring a variety of recreation, leisure and green space opportunities, which will preserve and enhance the quality of life, of both residents and visitors alike.

In order to achieve our goals we are proud to offer the following services and facilities:

Programming for all ages.

3 halls for rentals and events.

2 indoor ice rinks at the Sportsplex Community Recreation Centre and The Trout Creek Community Centre. The Sportsplex Community Recreation Centre host a Jr. A hockey team, Powassan Minor Hockey, the Powassan Figure Skating and the Curling Club.

A baseball field, that is the only regulation size hardball field north of Barrie.

2 softball fields at The Lions Park in Powassan and The Trout creek Community Centre.

4 playgrounds, three located in Powassan and one in Trout Creek.

The South River runs through our municipality with a Hydro Electric dam that creates Reservoir Lake, exceptional recreational water facilities and a beautiful beach.

A municipal pool which offers swimming lessons.

Snowmobile trails that run thought the municipality creating opportunities to stop for gas, food at one of the many restaurants, a nights stay at one of the two motels located in Trout Creek or at the Bed and Breakfast located in Powassan. The trails are well maintained and create a beautiful scenery.

There are multiple seasonal trails for walking, biking, and cross country skiing within the municipality.

There is a volunteer youth soccer league that runs during the summer months.

Within the Municipality of Powassan there is a sports academy and fitness center, that hosts kids camps.

A gun club.

A beautiful golf club is within the municipal boundaries.

There are high caliber equestrian facilities located within the municipality that teach riding lessons, host shows, board and train.

The Clark House Museum located just off Hwy 11 hosts an extensive history of the area.

Various special events, with the assistance of many great volunteers.

We also encourage community partnerships to further enhance the leisure time of our residents. Through communication and participation of individuals and organizations we can better identify and meet the needs of our community.
