Each member of Council also sits on various Standing Committees.

Young

The Mayor, Bob Young

I am a life long resident of Powassan. I have three children, two live here in the community as well as my grandchildren. Powassan is a great and safe place to live with many forms of recreation and activities for all ages. In order for Powassan to continue to move forward, I encourage residents to share their ideas and visions with Council or Staff. We look forward to hearing your ideas and concerns, good and bad.

As your Mayor, serving our community for the next four years, I would like to hear from you. You can contact the office at 724-2813 or through this website.

Barner

Councillor Nancy Barner

Beatty

Councillor Blair Beatty

I am a long standing member of this community. I have raised 2 sons here. I would like to thank all those who supported me in the election, and I look forward to serving you for another term of council.

Giesler

Councillor Gerry Giesler

I was born and raised in Powassan. I served 3 years in the Armed Forces and after my release, graduated from Cambrian College with a civil engineering technologist degree. In 1993, I “retired” to work in our family business of building cedar strip boats. I am married with two children.

I believe that as a representative of the Municipality, we need to communicate clearly and honestly on what we can and cannot do. If you have any concerns regarding the Municipality, please feel free to contact me.

I am very excited to have been elected for another term of Council. My goal this term is to work with Council to finish old projects and create new ones that will continue to show that the Municipality of Powassan is a leader in the region. As a Councillor for the Municipality of Powassan, I, George Thompson, will truly, faithfully, and impartially exercise this office to the best of my knowledge and ability.

Testimonials

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for being so helpful in my recent meeting with the Economic Development Officer, Chief Building Official, Public Works Supervisor and Deputy Clerk. I had many questions regarding rezoning and development. It was a pleasure to have them answered in a co-operative, responsible, knowledgeable manner. Council and staff should be congratulated for their efforts in this matter. Lonny Rose, April 20, 2010.
