Registration for lessons for July is closed. Registration information for August will be posted here later in July.
It's $5/person per swim session. Season Passes or 10 Swims Passes can be purchased during regular office hours at the municipal office.
Lessons
Lessons are Parent and Tot (parent must be in the pool); Preschool; Ages 5-7; Ages 8-10; Ages 11-14. We are a Lifesaving Society affiliate so all of our lessons are based on their recommendations. Fees as outlined in Bylaw 2023-16.
Open Swims and other activities
For the latest schedule visit our News and Notices page. We offer Open Swims each day, Adult Swim on Thursdays and Aquafit Mondays and Wednesdays. *Schedule is subject to change based on weather or private rentals.
Private Rentals
The pool is available for private rentals - the same rules apply for a private rental as they do for an Open Swim regarding weather and the number of people. For more information email recreation@powassan.net.
Weather
Lifeguards must shut down the pool if they cannot see the black dot at the bottom of the pool for any reason, such as rain or wind, or if there is thunder and lightning. If it looks like the storm may pass quickly the staff will wait 15 minutes. If there is still thunder and lightning, the pool will be closed for the day.
Admission Standards for Public Pools
Admission Standards for Public Pools were developed by the Office of the Chief Coroner to assist lifeguards and assistant lifeguards in maintaining adequate surveillance over the whereabouts and the activities of young bathers while they are inside the pool enclosure.
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care strongly supports these recommendations for the purposes of preventing injuries and fatalities, so this is what the Municipality of Powassan follows.
The ratio of non-swimmers to parent or guardian may be a maximum of 4 bathers to one parent or guardian (4:1)
The ratio of non-swimmers to parent or guardian may be increased to a maximum of 8 bathers to one parent or guardian (8:1) if lifejackets are worn by all non-swimmers in their charge
We have a zero tolerance harrassment policy. Lifeguards have the authority to remove people from the pool area for unwanted behaviour.
