NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF

OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT No. 2 (OPA 2)

Please be advised that the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Powassan has adopted Official Plan Amendment No. 2 (OPA 2) by passing

By-law No. 2015-22 on the 1st day of September, 2015.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The purpose of Official Plan Amendment No. 2 (OPA 2) is to implement the applicable source water protection policies of the North Bay Mattawa Source Protection Plan, as approved by the Ministry of the Environment. Public meetings were held by Council with respect to this Amendment on July 30^th and August 18^th, 2015.

The OPA identifies the location of wellhead protection areas proximate to existing municipal wells, as well as source water issue contributing areas, both of which are source water features that require long-term protection from land uses which have contamination potential.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND APPEAL PROCESS

The lands subject to OPA 2 are also the subject of the site specific zoning amendment to implement OPA 2.

A copy of the Official Plan Amendment is available for review in the municipal office during regular office hours. The Municipal Office is located at 466 Main Street in the Municipality of Powassan.

This Official Plan Amendment requires the approval of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (Sudbury) and may not be appealed until Ministry approval has been given. Any person wishing to receive a Notice of the Decision of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing with respect to the Official Plan Amendment may request notice by writing to the Ministry at the following address:
